Ive just got in to film as a hobbie but now i see its what i want to do with my life. So i was going to start off small. I went out and bought a JVC GR-DV500US Mini DV Digital Camcorder, a computer Editing promgram (power Director 3) and a dvd burner (Buslink 8x DVD+- RW Drive) I started filming and then edited my first film. Burned it on to a DVD and Played it in my DVD Play. But the picture doesn't look very good. I don't understand why. I thought Digital Video was the why to go. Anybody know anyway i can make my film look more Pro ?
Thank you
-Daniel
Im not sure if its a problem with the computer. or i was thinking it could be the file my program makes it in to. I think it makes it a AVI file. but idk. Does anyone know what the problem could be?
it's gotta be a setting some place. check for different compressions, avi isn't the way to go if you're putting something on DVD
You might want 2 post the actual video or sometin so we can judge whether the quality actually is bad.
Remember when you edit on your compyter or even view it on your computer, you're looking at it in high definition where as when you look at it on a TV Screen, it's not.
well even after i capture it on the computer and view it. It looks still doesn't look like it did when i recorded it. Its very clear on the camrea its after it gets on the computer the image looks crappy.
It's your computer then. How much ram do you have?

not necessarily -- check your capture settings, you could just have some crappy compression so it's not coming across as it should. ram will hardly effect your quality of picture, usually only playback.
Good call. Also, it may be your edits. Did you resize or crop the footage? Or use some brighten/contrast filters? all those things and more can turn ur shooting to shit.
I was just looking at my MiniDv cam and i noticed that the only way to connect it to the computer is through USB. And i see most Cams go through firwire. Does this matter or not? im not sure if it really effects anything
Yeah, i mean if you can put the video on through usb and ur software will edit it then its fine for starting out. But you'll prolly wanna save up for like a $300 camera if you want firewire (thats what id do if i were you and serious about this stuff). What firewire is, is just a faster means of putting the video on the computer.
Well the camrea i bought was $400 and it uses USB 2.0 i thought that was faster then Firewire but im not sure.
