Help with adobe premiere

I just got an adobe premiere pro 2.0 and im a total noob in using that type of software. im having problem on seeing the video output. all i have is the audio output. im using an avi file. do i have to install a divx player? i also tried a wmv file and i still cant see the video i can only hear the audio. what do you guys think is the problem? tnx alot in advance.

Hey

What footage are you working with? DV, HD, SD?? Also whats your hardware set up - whats inside your computer??

Sounds like maybe your computer is dying under the rendering of the footage and its only giving you output audio as it cant handle both.

Actually i just found out from another forum that i cant edit a compressed avi file on an adobe premiere. Got a different editing software instead. tnx for the reply
