Hi all,

i want to make a promotional dvd for my small company, first off i dont have any equipment? what should i buy?

second what happens after i have bought the equipment, i have ideas of what i want, i want a streaming video with a voice over, how do i do this, what software will i need? the dvd needs to be about 8 minutes long.

I am a complete novice, so please help me.

Basically you'll need a camera, a decent mike, an editing system, some DVD authoring software (which may be included in the editing program), and a DVD burner. Depending on what you go for you're probably looking at 2,000-5,000 pounds for the lot.

Are you planning this as a one-off, or would you be making movies regularly? If it's just one DVD, then you'd probably be better to hire the equipment rather than buy.

Where in the UK are you? There are a lot of rental companies in and around London, for example.

Not sure: I use ReelDVD because it came with my Avid software, but it's a bit crap.
