Ok, im highly interested in film. I have made movies before, but just spur of the moment stuff, shot in sequence(camcorder and no access to editing equip.). I need to get into digital filmmaking....long story short, my previous camera is useless, and i need a new one. I can only spend between 200-400(i will probably resort to ebay), and it needs to be digital(or digital8). So what(in your opinion) is the best camera for my buck?

Thanks for any help you can give.

your not going to find anything better then an expensive camcorder for under 400$. Any miniDV cameras or other typical indie film cameras are at least 2,000$. If you find one for less then that you are either getting ripped off or they are lying to you. My first camera was a Sony Handycam. haha not good at all but it was a camera. and i was able to shoot two films with it. (not good ones but my first ones) So to get started buy a nice camcorder, dont buy one of those tiny ones thats you can fit in you palm, buy a solid camera, like a Sony Handycam. Dont wait for a great camera to start shooting. Shoot often, shoot no matter what, and shoot not according to the type of camera you have.

"I believe the cinema is one of our principal forms of art. It is an incredibly powerful way to tell uplifitng stories that can move people to cry with joy and inspire them to reach for the stars."-Wes Craven

"Anyone who has ever been privileged to direct a film also knows that, although it can be like trying to write 'War and Peace' in a bumper car in an amusement park, when you finally get it right, there are not many joys in life that can equal the feeling." - Stanley Kubrick
