These two applications, both HDMI and S-Video..they are used to hookup your camera to a tv on the set, so the director can see what the cameraman is shooting? You know what I mean, when you see the behind the scenes stuff, you always see the director sitting in his chair watching a monitor.
I see no need for this myself, as I am both...all the director, cameraman, editor, producer etc. lol. Just trying to slowly understand my camera and the way things work on a set.
I'm not sure what your question is. HDMI carries a far superior signal to S-video if that's what you're asking. It's digital and can carry HD signals. On the majority of professional shoots the director is not operating the camera and a monitor is necessary. If you're doing a small production and operating the camera yourself, there is still an advantage to seeing the picture on a television because it offers a better reproduction of what the final image looks like. But if you don't have the resources it's not a necessity (if you're shooting it yourself... if you're not shooting it yourself and don't have a monitor, consider yourself lucky if you don't want to strangle the cameraman after you see the footage for the first time!).
