I'm trying to sell a feature screenplay but noone wants to hear my treatment because I don't have an agent. No agents in my area represent screenplays and I can't afford to move right now. Is there anyone here who has ever sold a script? If so, how'd you do it and could you at least point me in the direction of someone looking to buy?

i have never sold a script. But i know its really tough to sell one without an agent. If this is your first script you might want to just get it made into a movie, wheather you make it yourself or you give it to somebody you know to make it wont matter. I would suggest just getting your early scripts turned into movies and have them put into festivals so your name gets out there. Plus if some of you scripts get turned into award winning movies you have some credit when you go to look for an agent. If it isnt your first script i would suggest getting a agent ASAP if you are planning to make this a career. Good Luck.

I have.

You're right. Very few producers or prodCo's will accept what are called unsolicited scripts and no one will read a treatment. That's why you need an agent.

There is no direction to point you in because there is no one path to selling a script. Since you have already checked the agents in your area, it's time to check agents outside your area. You don't need to move to call agencies.

My advice is to make sure your script is the best you can make it and that you have at least three, great, finished scripts before looking for an agent. Five would be better.

I have already started writing my second script. I've given up on the agents in my area. Does anybody have any contacts with film agents? Their location is not longer important.
