I have been cruising ebay recently looking for a good 16mm camera to shoot my senior thesis film this fall. I have seen alot of cheap Krasnogorsk sets (which i have never shot on) and some Beauleaus (which i have shot on) but my eye has caught a Canon Scoopic M 16mm. The seller inlcuded an excerpt from a commercial he shot with the camera and the footage looked great. I was wondering if anyone had experience with this camera. Im also intrested in the price of converting a camera like this or a Beauleau to Super 16mm and its consequences. Thanks

As with all cameras - both film and DV - it's not the camera that give you a great image. It's the skill and experience of the person doing the lighting.

I own a Scoopic M. It's a great camera. So is the Eclair. I also own a Beaulieu and two Bolex's. I love the stock Angenieux lens on the Beaulieu. I've used that K-3 as a "C" camera for stunt scenes - it too gives you great footage.

So any of those cameras will give you great footage if you expose and light well.
