Hi there my friends. I'm wondering something about that maybe some profesional Script/Story writer guys here could help me with their advices.

Well... I'm actually an 3D Animator. But even before I got into CG, I write Movie Scripts for fun. I didn't go any Academic School or something like that. I'm just a guy with funny imagination. ?:D? I usualy write Science-Fiction, Thrillers. Movies like Usual Suspects, Memento, Blade Runner, or Strange Days really inspired me to write Stories. But I didn't go further with them. But people around me (close friends) are encouraging me to keep it up and I'm also enjoy writing very much.

I recently seen the Trailer of Michael Bay's upcoming movie The Island. I shocked when I watch it first because I did write exactly that Story/Idea around 1999-2000. It was just the idea. I tell it a couple of friends, thats it. But that made me realize why couldn't be one of my next stories made into Hollywood movies? It is possible allright.

The thing is; I don't know what steps I should be taking to realize that? I'm not into looking for earning big bucks in return. (although it would be cool heheh) I just want to learn your advices about how to reach producers or directors or whatever with my Ideas/Scripts so they can make movies like I want. Or what?

Thanks in advance...

First, to make sure your stuff doesn?t get stolen you should take some precautions, there?s a good section in the FAQ http://www.filmmaking.net/faq/answers/faq23.asp?catid=4

After that you might want to try getting an agent, since without a good agent you're probably not going to get anywhere.

Other than that if you?re not too hung up on making a huge movie, there?s always a large number of independent filmmakers who might do your scripts. If all else fails have you thought about making the movie yourself?
If you?re an animator, maybe try making an animated version of one of your films?
Just throwing out ideas.

Good luck.

Hi vierstein,

Actually I would love to direct my own movie myself. But I don't think I can go places & locations, or can do any real directing. I think about making animated version of my scripts. But it's not any easier than actual movie either. ?:)? Not something that 1 man can do. Maybe I can create 2-3minute of it, but won't be like real script. Like fitting all Star Wars series into one movie.

You said agent. Where do I find one? I need someone like Agent Mulder thats for sure. ?:D?

Hi,
I thought your animations we're really sweet. As far as scripts go, who you know helps alot. I just finished my very first script last month, passed it to a friend in the biz and it is being considered by two major (really major) companies.

It's movies like The Island which fuel my belief that I too can make it if I take the right path. Seems to me all that film is, is Logan's Run met with The Matrix. It simply can't be about fantastic original content in order to get a blockbuster.

The advice already here pretty much covers it - protect your work (if all else fails you can maybe sue people who make successes out of similarities to your ideas :P) and network with people who are involved in other facets of the business (directors, producers, etc) and getting an Agent is a good idea if you're really serious (and don't mind paying a bit in order to get yourself out there).
