i am planning on starting the creation of a independent film
and before i dive in i just wanted some opinions on a few things
what dv's are recommended (if you have 2 top favorite write them both)
what computer specs would you recommend, (i would like to go with the pc but mac specs would be great as well, please make them detailed down to scsi connected, and any cards that would have to be purchased)
also software titles (both mac and pc)

Hardware:
Around 800Mhz, 256MB Ram, 80Gb harddrive.. of course, more is better..
Software: Adobe Premiere is "elite", but it's pretty complicated.. If you don't need advanced special effects etc, i totally recommend Pinnacle Studio 8 (or newer if available..?).. It's really easy to work with and gives great results!
