Recently I've been hired to make a commercial for a local business. I've already recorded and edited it but now there is a problem. The cable station wants the commercial on DV tape. I'm recording on a mini DV camera and editing with a combination of adobe premeire and encore.

DVcam or mini dv? It shouldn't be difficult to edit to minidv. And DVcam decks shouldn't be too hard to rent, they're pretty well a broadcast standard. Your local college probably has some.

It's mini DV with a firewire connection.

Do you have a firewire and a MiniDV camera? If you do, it should be easy to export your timeline from computer throught the firewire and to your camera.

If the DVcam also has firewire in then you can simply use the print to tape option in Premiere to render your edited footage directly onto a fresh dv tape.

yup. there should be an option to export it to dv where you save the movie as a file.
