Welcome. These forums are part of filmmaking.net, a global community of new and independent filmmakers. We welcome your participation and hope that you find being a member of our community both useful and rewarding.

We're generally a pretty casual bunch here, but to ensure the forums remain useful to all we do have a few house rules. Before you post, please take a moment to read these rules to avoid future frustration or embarrassment.

Read the FAQ...
"FAQ" stands for "frequently asked questions". The Internet Filmmaker's FAQ contains answers to over 200 of these. Make sure you check it before posting as your question might already be answered there.

Read the forums first...
Likewise, even if your question isn't answered in the FAQ, it may already be a topic of discussion in the forums. Read before you post, and don't forget you can also search the forums.

It's about filmmaking...
Any posts you make here should be about filmmaking and/or directly relevant to filmmakers. Please do not post off-topic messages they will be deleted.

Respect the group topics...
Each group in the forums has been given a broad topic to make it easier for people to find the information they are looking for or ask a question to the appropriate audience. When posting a new message, please choose the group which most closely relates to the topic.

No cross-posting...
"Cross-posting" is where someone posts the same message to multiple groups within the forums. We, like most forums, don't allow cross-posting because it simply clogs up the system with duplicate posts, making is harder for people to participate in the forums. When posting, please choose the most appropriate group for your message and post it once there. We'll delete all your messages if you cross-post to multiple groups.

Keep it civil...
We're not overly sensitive about language or negative comments, but we have to ask you to keep your posts within the realms of public decency. If you're going to be critical about something or someone, please be objective. Likewise, filmmaking.net is not a forum for discussing your politics, religion, views on controversial topic du jour.

We're international...
Members of these forums hail from countries all over the world. We're more than happy for you to use the forums to discuss issues relating to filmmakers in your local area, but make sure you are clear about locations, restrictions, or anything else which might make your post suitable to a region-specific audience.

English language...
That said, filmmaking.net is an English-language site. As we don't have the ability to moderate discussion in other languages, all posts must be made in English.

Spam...
It goes without saying, but we don't tolerate spam of any kind on the forums or via email to our forum members. If you post or email spam, your account will be deleted and your IP address block banned. Also, you may not use any kind of automated tool to post to our forums.

Emailing other members...
You can use these forums to send private messages via email to other members. In order to do this, you must be a Junior Member or greater. Starting Members cannot send email to other forum members. You can increase your user class by participating (i.e. posting) in the forums.
