So a friend of mine drafted me to be in charge of recording his music video for one of his self produced songs. He wants to have it shot in 3 different locations (2 of the locations will be shot on location at night)..I have a canon t2i and a 50mm f/1.4 EF lens..i was wondering what type of equipment ill need for the on location recording? im also in this with a friend of mine who knows a bit more about gear than i do. I know i'll need lights and speakers, but what else does a job like this require? How will the lights and speakers be powered?, etc.. if i could get your input and feedback that would really be appreciated =?

Welcome nike.

First, please do not post the exact same question three times
on three different areas. Take a quick look at the FAQ.

What equipment you need depends on the shoot - and on what
you have. If you do not have or can't afford a jib (for example)
you do not need one. Your friend who knows about gear will be
your best source of information about what you have available
and what you need for this specific music video.

You might need a tripod. You might need c-stands and flags and
scrims to help control the lighting. You might need a dolly with
tracks and a stedicam. To power the lights and audio gear you
will need a generator if your exterior location is a long way from
a power source.

My apolohies for the multiple posts. I have a tripod, but would you be able to post a few links of generators and lights that would be reliable for this purpose thanks a ton.

Since you will not be recording audio (only playback) any generator
will do. They are loud, really loud, but shouldn't be too much of an
issue. Genny's designed for motion picture production are very quiet.

I don't know what lights you will need to I can't really post any useful
links. "2 of the locations will be shot on location at night" doesn't tell
me enough. You might need very high power lights, you might be able
to use standard work lights - I just don't know. What does your friend
- the one who knows a bit more about gear than you do - say about
lights?

He said that he hadn't thought of that aspect and will be looking into it as well. I just wanted to get some of my own information instead of waiting around for him. Also, this is the light kit he has..my only concern is that they won't be strong enough to light a night time scene.. http://amzn.to/uEwE2Z
