Ok, I've got literally no experience with cameras. I was able to get my hands on a couple MiniDv cameras for 2 weeks a year and a half ago, one consumer model and one professional model. Thats the limit to my experience.
I'm looking to buy a cheap used camera, really cheap ($150-200), just to dink around with that I can teach myself on. I would like to make some shorts with it once I've mastered the basics. My question is am I better off buying a lower end digital camera or a higher end, older analogue camera and digitizing it (I've got the PC hardware to do so-$10 from a guy at a garage sale who couldn't figure it out). And what tape format would be the best? I'm not looking to film a masterpiece with this camera, just educate myself
You can't sell cats on the internet.
If you can get an old Hi8 3CCD camera for that price it might produce a better picture than a cheap DV camera... also it would probably have full manual controls, so you'd be able to experiment with them and learn to shoot video properly rather than just sticking it on automatic.
