although this is DEFINATELY a newbie question which could be just as easily answered if you typed in "IEEE 1394" on google, you blanket posted across every forum so my answer is:

IEEE 1394 is the industry standard name for firewire.

You are looking for a firewire capture card? I just recently bought one. Just go to the nearest circuit city, and just say that you need a firewire capture card. They'll hook you up (just make sure you know your computer make and such). I recently bought one, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask.
