A quick question, I am starting a claymation short and was wondering if anyone had some good tips, besides the obvious ones such as take your time and don't rush the process.
Also I was wondering what the easiest way to sync voices up with charecters is. Should I record on a tape deck then import it or do the sound completely seperate and mix it with a board?
Or maybe just use the filters in final cut totake out hiss and whatnot.
Ahh.... and what type of clay works best? Just any old kind or clay that can stand rigid when I want it to.
Anything anyone, anything?

A quick answer. Use a proper thread title and you'll get more responses. Although fluffy green bunny rabbits is quirky and will get curiousity seekers it looks like spam or a troll dumped it here and you're more likely to see the thread ignored or deleted rather than answered.
Beyond that, having looked at it once people will not remember it's contents, just that it was not about fluffy green bunny rabbits and are unlikely to return the the thread with followups.
Lastly they may just get distracted and not really get the question. What was the question again? Something about clown collages?

A quick answer, develop a quirky sense of humor and move on with your life rather then spending it on boring forums which move at the speed of a dead snail. And another hint, don't take your internet life so seriously, you may get a wee bit farther in life. Might do you some good.

You're right, my post was overly serious, but the advice was well intended.

Woah, woah, woah!
What's with all the sudden conflict? I happen to think that this is a very good forum, especially for getting to the point of things. I go on other sites for comedy and all that jazz.
And having a go at people for helping other amateur filmmakers online is a bit low really isn't it. Especially seeing as though Mr. Schwarz probably helped you at some stage...

Its all good in the hood Svelter.
Just take a deep breath.....(eeeepp)
....and exhale....(foooooof)
RJ and I have got it under control, without the third wheel intervention.
We got each other down.
He knows not to ever take offense or take me seriously and I know never to take him seriously.
It all goes back to that problem of conveying sarcasm on the internet thing if you ask me. That and my drinking habit, but we won't go there eh?
They need to to really do something about that sarcasm deal.
Henestly.
BTW-Wasn't it you I had the zombie argument with RJ? I could be mistaken, but I could have sworn it was you.
Ha, Svelter you remind me of the little boy wondering why his parents are arguing. "But mommy! Daddy! WHY?!?!?" (Bursts into tears)
But enough beating around your mothers bush, back to topic at hand.......
anyone?
anything?
claymation?

To be honest I don't think I've argued with anyone on this board but you can bet if their was any discussion of zombies on the board I was in the thick of it with a cricket bat swinging. You might be refering to the "cheezy" zombie movie discussion that was basically about our different definitions of cheezy.

Aye, thats the ticket. I didn't mean argument in the literal sense of the word, more of as an exchanging of ideas.
Ha, its been revived.

Yeah, I edited a URL in a post on that thread and suddenly it popped up again as if a new comment had been added or something.

Nah, it wasn't me. At least I can't remember arguing about zombie cheesiness.
The closest thing I've had to an argument on these forums is telling a guy he's a moron for calling himself the next big thing in filmmaking when he didn't really know too much about it.

Don't you just love modesty?
People are usually fantastic like that.
Sorry about the double post, don't drink and type, thats what happens.
OR you end up sending people strange love notes that you don't remember writing then can't figure out what in gods name you trying to get at.
Never mind, long story. Haaaaaa......yeahh.....
IT WASN'T ME I SWEAR!!!
Alright, last attempt to get back on topic...
CLAYMATION???

I'm curious about claymation as well. I love robotchicken.
Watching Robotchicken I figured if I were doing the same thing I'd use a computer animation program. Instead of trying to use realistic figures just make them look like GI Joe toys. People would assume it was stop-motion, it would be similar to stop-motion, but a lot easier.
A long, long time ago I animated a Saturday Morning cartoon (Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, I worked on maybe 30 seconds worth) and we had a little chart of exactly what positions your mouth takes when you say which sounds. I'm sure that chart is on the internet somewhere. Timing it to sound might be nightmarish though, you'd have to plot out frame by frame how the sound works. I think that's why Harrihousen just used monsters most of the time.

Yeah sound is quite nasty for synching.
RobotChicken! Finally a brother in arms!
WAHOO!
Though I'll take the old Wallace and Grommit over RobotChicken anyday of the week. That and the old Ruduloph the Red Nosed Raindeer gig. Now a days claymation tends to more of just basic movements and the rest is covered up with visual effects.
The older stuff is pure unadulterated claymation at its finest.
