Hey My name is jordan, and I am wanting to go to a film school. but I am having a hard time figuring out what school to go to. DOes anyone know anything about the Kelowna media school. I am wondering how good it would be for film production. Compared to the vancouver film school. which one would have a good employability rate. thanks
Jordan

I think the top two are NYU and USC. so i guess it depends what coast your on. But there are many many other schools that have film departments. Get your hands on some sort of college handbook and look at which school specialize in film. I have a friend that is going to Emerson and he says its really good there.

Don't be tricked into this "the better film school you go to the better filmmaker you will go to". It will ultimatly depends on your talents (tarantino never went to film school, he worked in a video store) but film schools can be a huge help. I think one of teh best things a film school can do for you is placing you in a job or internship after graduation. But just keep looking. There are bound to be ones near you.

check out Blue Ridge Motion Picture Studios. Its down in Asheville and is actually really cool. They are the Studio that L:ast of the Mohicans was filmed at. Also all their people have worked in hollywood before. The cost is pretty inexpensive (around 15,000 dollars) and they have a lot of training involved. Everyone works with SUper 8, 16MM, Super 16, DV, adn even 35mm. All projects are edited on FCP, you learn about all the stuff too. When I went down to visit, the equipment guy said he got his hands on underwater cameras and wanted to borrow the students for a spring day to teach them. Your tuition covers, books, equipments costs and all of that. The team down there is amazing. The next year they are supposed to be filming 3 tv shows and I believe the students are supposed to intern at the the shows. The program also focuses on the business side of moviemaking that is important to movie makers. Like the way things work. At the the end they make a resume DVD and help you get set up as well. It's also only a one year program.
