what exactly is it? and are the school courses to become one?

It's a rather unusual word. More common is: cinematographer or videographer. It's the moving picture equivalent to photographer.

And yes. There are school courses.

Huh, I've never heard filmographer in my life, interesting. I had no idea.

Filmography is a list of the films a filmmaker has made. So going by that I guess a filmographer is a person who prepares that list. Don't think the title exists considering the trivial nature of the work. Anyone can prepare a filmography.. right???
