I'm making a film right now and I would like to know ... How can I film Someone who's running in a forest , sort of parrallelly ? Like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s96iG2lwam4

(skip to 1:51 in the video)

My actor will be running much faster, but there will be less trees and stuff. So, How can i do this? With a dolly?

One method is to use Steadicam. A potential problem is that a bad Operator can't use a longer lens very well to add the fast movement to the shot, not to mention that a longer lens takes a quality Focus Puller to keep it all sharp. Also, the Steadicam Operator and Focus Puller needs a fairly even and clean path to work while keeping up with the actor.

Another method is to plant the camera on a tripod and have the actor run in a circle while you pan with him. This keeps the actor at the same relative difference so focus is easier and you're not worrying about tripping with the camera. Operating is a challenge as you are trying to keep the actor in frame (on a tight lens) while adjusting your body to keep turning in a tight circle.

Handheld is possible, but like Steadicam, it's a little difficult to keep up with the actor and not fall over.

I am doing this in the film we are currently shooting. I plan to use a golf cart and a homemade fig rig. I probably won't get this shot in time to show you how it works :/ We still have snow on the ground 🙁
