Hey, I will be filming my next movie which was shot with a CanonXL. Everything look great but with this movie I was hoping for a more "PRO" look to the movie. Any opinions on any better cameras.
It isn't your camera, it's how you use it.
Frankly I don't like the Canon (personal choice - not saying it's a bad camera) but I have shot with it and gotten a pro look. Lighting is essential, coverage and camera placement and movement are a big part in getting that pro look. Getting a better camera and not changing the way you light isn't going to help.
That said, I'm a big fan of the pro JVC cameras. You can find a great, used GY-DV5000 or get the new HD100U. It's an amazing camera with all pro features.
I also like the Sony PD-170 and the Panasonic DVX100B - but the fixed lens on both limit its "pro" status.
