Hi, i was wondering about the computer scenes that i have saw in most(if its not all) movies dont show the actual OS avaliable on the market... its not windows and its not even linux... or MacOS
Firts i thought that the problem was the copyright and image use of M$ and all softwares related but when i started with linux i found out that the GUI(Guided User Interface) is not a linux GUI and all the programs like web browser wasnt the common or even the non common GNU software... Why dont they use real computer systems insted of some animation ? i guess the framerate could be adjusted... the frequence in the monitor... so why dont use real computer systems ?

Brazilian cinema should be a copy of the hollywood model with our history or sell misery as a country characteristic. FORA GLOBO FILMES !!!!!!!

Since the folks using the computers in movies are rarely just average users it makes sense for them to have either (a) customized their OS or (b) using something customized by the CIA or DOD or whatever.

In Most cases the movie folks are using Linux which has a number of GUIs that can make it look very different. I've seen different Mac OSs used as well including ones with modified interfaces (Independence Day had OS7 (or was it 8) with a skin to make it look like the planned Copeland update that was eventually canned. Jurassic Park had Apple computers with MacLinux running (I think) as well as Quicktime movies to fake the live camera footage (note the moving progress bar as the footage plays).

You rarely see Windows though, primarily that is because there is little wow factor left since they dominate the market.
