Hi There,

I am an established musician on an independent record label. I have appeared on numerous CD and Vinyl records. Without getting into my background too much, I have a few questions about how one would go about securing a job scoring an indy film.

Is it best to just take out some ad's on craigslist and post what I am looking for? What do you film makers do when you are looking for a custom score to your film? What kind of compensation should I expect? Are film makers usually open to what a musician would put down or are they very strict and involved in the music creation process?

Any help about this aspect would be appreciated, It's always been something I've wanted to try. Thanks.

I've gotten music done for one of my films once and all I did is look at the person's music he made/worked on in the past, if it's good quality and it sounds like they know what they're doing I'll ask them to make music for me. I told them what mood I want the scene to have and lots of emotional desctiption for the characters.

I'm a very musical person too, but as long as the music fits to the film and portrays the emotion it's suposed to it's good.

H.A.
