Hey everyone, i am new here. In the future i want to make films. I am new to all this. I been reading a few books, but never found anything on how to make a film-like look of things i shot. Is it an option on editing software or what? If anyone knows please, share ur knowledge with me.

see if this looks like film to you, it was shot on the Panasonic AG DVX100, it's a 24p (progressive) camera, designed to emulate "film look" at 24 frames per second - the standard film frame rate (tv is 30 or 29.97).

To be honest, the best way to get a 'film look' is to shoot film. There are various effects filters out there that promise to make your DV movie look like film, but I've never been impressed with any of them... you could probably make it work, but I suspect you'd have to light the movie very carefully with that goal in mind, as well as apply the filters at the end.
I've been using 'Magic Bullet Suite' which is an After Effects plug-in. It does go some way to giving video footage a more film-like look by de-interlacing the footage and giving you the option to apply various 'looks' or create your own. As Mark said, nothing will match actually shooting on film but there are a good many alternatives which might help lose that camcorder look.
Thanx parasite, that music video does looks like film. MarkG thanx also, but i am just starting out doing some experiments, so shooting on film is to expensive to play with. So i guess it all comes down to right lightning and software.

the ghetto'st way i've heard of making that effect is using panty-hose as a filter.

It's hard to tell by watching that 31mb file on an computer moniter. It looks great. But I don't think it looks like it was shot on film.
But the only true test is to show it on the big screen.
