I know this probably sounds like a really stupid question. I wanted to know how to make the audio of the film in one scene slide onto another scene. An example of this would be in a conversation where you have 2 people talking and you can hear part of the other person's voice on one clip as it switches to him in the next clip.
What program are you using to edit your film?

Bruce Campbell - "So you want to get into show biz?"
Me - "Yeah, I'd really like to direct movies."
Bruce Campbell - "Cool. Just don't suck."

probably adobe premiere
well, you would have to record the sound separtely.
then you would match the sound off the minidisc/dat to that of the visuals, but have the audio of the conversation bar run a little longer before you cut the video.

Right. Basically, you want unlink your video and audio in the timeline. Then you can extend or shorten the audio independently of the video. I can't remember exactly how to unlink the video and audio in Premier (it's been a while since I used it), but it should be pretty easy to find the option.

What is beeing described here is called an L or J cut. I beleive that unlinking the audio and video in Premiere is as simple as right clicking on the clip you want to separate but I don't use Premiere so I could be wrong. Oh and every time you have a new audio clip please use a small fade at the start and end otherwise you run the risk of getting a popping or clicking noise each time a new clip starts. The fades will make everything sound allot smoother as well. Good luck.
