I will be going to college in a year but i dont know how to edit or use any editing program. I would like to stay on a PC and i was wondering if anyone could give me some adivce (any). I'm thinking about getting Avid DV Xpress. Does anyone know where i can get it for a cheap price? (OR where they will give student discounts?) -dean

yes, go avid. everything else pale's in comparison. that is of course a subjective opinion, but if you get avid express you can export an edl and take it to an avid media composer and high rez, and do better effects. which if your goin to college you'll probably be interning a studio where you'll have access to media composers.

I would also like to stay PC instead of going Mac, is it possible to have Avid Dv Xpress on a PC laptop paying under 3000 for that laptop?

Unless u have a very good reason... i'd say to definetly stick with a desktop... there much easier to work with escpecially for video editing... however for 3000$ avid dv express will work on a laptop... but not at full capacity
