I have a PC so Cut Pro is out. Do you guys think Vegas is ok for now,I am trying to get a look that was in the movie Minorty Report, a friend told me that I could do this is Vegas. I have a friend who uses Vegas and his films look fine. Vegas is a solid program and is growing in popularity in the indie film world. Personally I use FCP but i have used vegas before and its fine. So you should be safe using it.

go with adobe premiere. As for Adobe Premiere Pro- if you're just starting out, don't worry about getting premiere pro.

Go with adobe premiere- its more user friendly then other editing software, its an extremely common editing program with others so if you need help it won't be hard to find someone who knows it.

Also, once you get better with it, you can use photoshop and other software in the adobe line (photoshop, after effects, encore etc.)

Vegas is not nearly as common as adobe, not even close.

As for industry standards it's avid and final cut pro. You can get Avid Xpress DV on www.journeyed.com if you're a student for about $300 but it's pretty sophisticated and not user friendly (like final cut).

If you're starting out, go with adobe premiere and check out a few online tutorials. Hope this helped.

As me, I'm doing my project for low budget.
So I don't care about camera that I used for my films.
I do care about software.
I never use Sony Vegas.
But I used to use Adobe Premiere 2.0.
Premiere is also recommended for effects..
I used to make my films effect with Premiere.
But for editing and color correct,
I used "Avid Express Pro HD".
It's the best software for editing..
