Hey there,

I'm a filmstudent from Western Australia and i have a short documentary task coming up about the acting industry and how i failed to get in because i was just too good (it's comedic, but mostly funny how bad the jokes are, still it's not written by Angela Robinson) and anyways i'll be doing a wide range of interviews my main question is how difficult is it to get an over the phone interview with an actor, australian or other. Is there tons more to it than just ringing their casting agencyand saying "Hey i was wondering if rebecca cartwright would want to talk to some douchebag from over west for my little movie"
has any body done this before or know how the whole 'get an interview' thing works? Fill me in.

Many people are very open to being interviewed, since it kind of buffs their egos a little.

The best approach is, as you suspected, contacting their agents and asking for an interview. It's better to be 100% honest about who you are, what your'e doing, and what it will be used for. If they don't want to do it, they don't want to do it, and that's that. Just make sure you have some alternatives if the people you want to speak to don't say yes.
