I'm looking for recommendations for a format to shoot a film on. It's a semi-documentary film, but half of it is made up of comedy sketches so I don't know how far into 'film look' I want to go. I don't want it to look like a cheap camcorder production, but also don't need a fully lit movie shoot. Some of it will be handheld walking shots, if that helps.

I'm either looking to rent camera kit at around ?500/US$750 per week, or work with someone who owns their own camera, which probably limits the camera value to around ?4k/US$5k.

So which format would you go for? And any recommended cameras to rent?
