alright i need some opinions here, I want to know, if you would rather go with a cheap camera(but not like a crappy one, but like one that gets the job done) and a expensive editing software(like avid Xpress DV or something), or would u rather go with a expensive camera and a cheap editing software(like the kind u can get at walmart, the 90$ ones). all opinions would be helpful

Well, if you're still at school, there are often some cheap 'educational' deals on editing software. For example, I think Avid Xpress Pro can be bought for about $300 if you're a student.
Another option is to look at cheap Firewire cards: in some cases you've been able to buy a Firewire card with a copy of Adobe Premiere included for a couple of hundred dollars or less.
