I have a Sony HVR-Z1U camera. If my ultimate output is going to be a DVD but I want to have a film look, I should be shooting in 24p, correct? When shooting in 24p, what are some of the basics that I should know so when playing the movie the strobing are reduced? So now that I got the movie in 24p, I should be capturing the movie in 24p or 23.976?
well, if you were shooting using normal DV, you could use 'magic bullet' software to give the movie more of a filmlook. it technically wouldn't be '24pfs', but it would still look more filmic.
i dont' know if MB software, will work with your HD camera, or if there's anything that will make your HD technically 24fps, but there are probably other tricks to make it look more 'filmic'.

Thank you for responding. I guess what I want to know is if 24p will ultimately create more strobing than let's say 30i than what are some of the methods professional use to minimize this problem? Or is it because 24p is usually for transfering to film, it will not have this strobing problem?
Any suggestion on some reading regarding shooting in 24p is much appreciating.
Thank you.
