Hi, I have a number of 16mm World War 2-era silent reels that belonged to my grandfather. I would like to convert them to a digital format. Unfortunately, the film is somewhat brittle with age, and tends to crack when projected. So, I would like to somehow take a still image of each individual frame, and then put them all together in final cut pro. Does this seem like a feasible task? I have a nikon d70, is there some kind of mounting device available that would point it at a fixed spot where film could be? Is there a (fairly cheap) scanner that can handle individual frames of 16mm film on a reel? Any better ideas? I have very little experience in this area, so any help would be great. Thanks,
Charlie
