Hi,
I've been reliably informed the above is very easy but I'm having trouble. I've got a firewire cable and I've connected from the NDV/DV slot on the back of the camera (4 pin) into the back of the Mac with the 6 pin connection. I'm now trying to get Final Cut express to see it and I'm having no joy.
All help gratefully received as the above no doubt shows, I am the classic clueless newbie.
Ta,
Caimh
Sorry, update to the above. It seems to be working now if I import things into IMovies. Does Final Cut then take the footage from iMovies?
And the Camera is a Canon obviously, not a canan - whatever that is.
You can use the .mov files iMovie creates in FCE. However, it's much easier to just use FCE.
Just re-check the import setting on FCE.

Sometimes the camera has a VTR or VCR setting, if so you might try shifting that and seeing if FCE recognizes the camera. I could be wrong but I think without that the camera doesn't send out a signal so there is nothing for FCE to see.
