ok so i have a canon optura 50 and everytime i plug the camera into my computer and open windows moviemaker, the program does not recognize my camera and i cant upload the video..HOWEVER when i switch my camera from cassete mode to memory card and the camera is plugged in, the computer recognizes the camera and i can upload the picturees stored on that memory card or any video i might have shot

That is very strange. The exact thing happened tp me four years ago with a panasonic pv-gs250.
It had been 4 years since it has happned and I have a sony dcr-vx2100 now, and the porbelm does not exist. But I would also be intersted if someone finds some information leading to the source of that problem desribed above.
