My senior project is supposed to be a five minute short film. I want to use Yellow by coldplay and i've thought of a story, but it seems to be too muc hand all over the place. At first it was supposed to be a music video but i don't have timeto ask Coldplay's permission.

Anyway what I get from the song is someone completely in love and devoted to another person. From that I got this: An unpopular boy and popular girl (drug addicted) fall in love. She loves and leans on this boy for support. He does what he can to help her battle this addiction but other factors overpower him. In the end his efforts are unfortunately futile. Her desire for friends regardless if they truly care for her or not, and her desire to remain among the social elites begin to drive them apart. The girl does not show affection to the boy in public much less in the presence of her ?friends.? As she delves deeper and deeper into addiction, the boy keeps his distance, yet clearly remains in her line of vision, hoping that with one look in his eye and the yellow lily in his hand will help her escape the darkness. She finally takes notice of the world around her and the heartache she caused him and feels guilty to the point of suicidal thoughts. These thoughts lead to action upon realizing that despite everything, the boy remains deeply in love and devoted to her. The deed is done and as the boy buries his head into her shoulder, cradles her in his arms and cries into her hair, he remembers the good times they had when love was simple, when image and status weren?t the foremost thoughts in her mind.

The purpose of this film is to inform the public on the dangers of drug addiction, how it affects the person and those around them. This film will explore problems that young people face on a day to day basis including image, social status, self- perception and by extension identity.

I've been trying to write a script but I don't feel I'm getting to the point fast enough, especially with five minutes to send a message. My teacher made it part of a contest so I only have this week and March to finish it.

Since I have experience, my teacher is putting so much pressure on me to make some oscar winning short not to mention this is what makes me graduate or not. I know there are brilliant people on this site and I hope you can help me graduate. I'm not sure if this story will work so other ideas are welcome as well. No pressure. ?:D?

Here are the lyrics to Yellow:
Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And everything you do
Yeah, they were all yellow

I came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
And it was called yellow

So then I took my turn
Oh what a thing to have done
And it was all yellow

Your skin
Oh yeah, your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
You know, you know I love you so
You know I love you so

I swam across
I jumped across for you
Oh what a thing to do

Cos you were all yellow
I drew a line
I drew a line for you
Oh what a thing to do
And it was all yellow

Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
And you know for you
I'd bleed myself dry for you
I'd bleed myself dry

It's true, look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine

Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And all the things that you do

I suggest trying to do the music video. If this song is your muse, do it justice and call up Chris Martin. Artists are usually pretty good about that kinda thing ?unless it's Metallica we're talking about?.
Otherwise, tha seems like a lot of stuff to cram into a 5-minute short and still make it cohesive. The only way I can think about it the way you wrote here, is in the form of a music video.

Well for a senior project you don't really need their permission to use it. Unless you are planning to sell the short to HBO then no permission is needed. And that idea isn't bad. It sounds alittle complicated so make sure to storyboard and plan out your short.

That's the bad part. My genius teacher made it part of a contest.
