Anyone know a site where I can learn about cinematography? And about lighting and things like that. Thanx.

No, but I am looking for the exact same thing. Please let me know if/when you find something and I'll do the same. Thanks.

I hate to state the obvious... but there are lots of pretty decent articles at http://www.cinematography.com

Also check out "The Five C's Of Cinematogrpahy". It's an old text, but generally considered a classic. You could do a lot worse than start out with topics discussed in that book.

And consider this piece of advice that is often given, but rarely taken... good lighting is VERY important if you want to give your work a professional feel - and it's even more important when shooting with Digital, as you can diffuse the light more and things will appear more "cinematic" i.e. filmic - assuming that this is what you're striving for.

There's plenty to learn and if You have some experience with still photography you know about depth of field, film speed and how a lense works etc..

I have details of books about painting with light yet dont have the details with me atime of posting this ...will get back to You.?:)?

I think a single google search will give you thousands of links about cinematography. A book or two wouldn't hurt either.

Also, don't forget www.cinematography.net . I had to leave the mailing list a year or two back due to unreliable internet connections, but there were a lot of experienced cinematographers on the list and some useful FAQs and list archives.

Not really a list for the basic stuff, but if you have questions to ask to working cinematographers it's quite possibly the easiest way to find them or to find the answers in the archives.
