Hey all, ive been making films for almost 2 years now, and im looking twards my future.
Out of the three, Post Production has always been my favotite. i dislike all the scheduleing of Pre Prod and of course the stress of Production. (dont get me wrong, i still love making films, those two are just not my strongest.) Ive just always adored post. love seeing things come together. i spend hours and hours on end editing, and i love every minute of it. so although i would be thrilled to get a job in any field, do you have any specific advice to getting into post?
Thanks, Always
-Dan

Getting a job in post production is no different than getting any job.
A great way to start is to intern at a post production company. I?m not suggesting
it?s as easy as getting a job at McDonalds or BlockBuster, but it?s a great way to
make contacts and learn the business.

Many companies have agreements with school - internship for school credit. The age range varies.
Contact your school and call post production houses.

If you're in college, you will probably gain good advice if you speak with your professors and career office.

If you haven't gotten your job in post yet, it's not as hard as getting into production. With post facilities, you can get in the door as a receptionist or a scheduling assistant / account assist (typically with any college degree). If you have no industry experience and do not have a college degree, you can get your foot in the door as a driver or shipping assistant.
Then it's just hard work. Make sure you do your job well. Meet the editors, sound designers, check with your supervisor and see if you can sit in with them after your shift is over. Learn the internal process of post and how each end of post relates to another. If you're lucky enough to work at a facility that deals with "full service" post production, you'll get to experience every facet of the post chain. You can usually move up to an editor assist or sound assist easily. Turn over in the assist position is usually high, as the people that usually assist, are dying to step up to flying solo.
