Hey everybody, I'm having some trouble getting my rode ntg-2 to work with my hv-30. I basically bought the mic on a whim after a little bit of research. I watched some videos featuring it and I liked the way it sounded so i purchased it immediately. Anyway, If there is a post already addressing this issue please redirect me. Basically I just need help getting it to work and I dont know the first thing about cameras or mics really. I was aware that the rode mic went to xlr and that the hv30 only had an 1/8" input, so i bought a generic xlr to 1/8" cord. When I used this xlr to 1/8" and listened with headphones on as I spoke into the camera pretty much point blank, it was very very faint. The audio level meter on the camera hardly moved a quarter of the way up. I was frustrated by this so I bought a Rode VXLR 3.5 mm mini-jack to 3 pin XLR input Converter. This yielded the same results. Also, when i changed the MIC ATT option in the camera menu to ON i didnt get any sound at all. Again sorry if this was already posted. I'm just really desperate.
