I'm interested in using a pen name if I become a writer and director. Do you know if this is allowed and if there are any directors and writers that do have pen names? Your opinion is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Yes. You are allowed to use whatever name you want.

Thanks for being straightforward with your answer, instigator. I'll be ready to use that pen name when I get my first script done.
I know writers have pen names. But I haven't heard of directors with pen names. I'm saying it's not allowed, just haven't heard of it.

Alan Smythe is a pen-name of sorts.
Pen-names are not usually needed for Directors because traditionally the director's name is not used to market a film until that director has a body of work that people know, and by that time the name could be embarrassing, hard to spell or pronounce, and it won't matter.
