I am completely new to this so here goes.

I am planning on buying the JVC Camcorder (GR-DF450US) because it seems to fit my budget. So my question about the audio would be this. I know I would need an external mic to get better sound and being a musician I have some really nice mics.

The Camcorder takes a mic input with plug-in power so I am guessing that means I would be able to plug my mic into it, so I would need this ?url? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?A=details&kw=AUAT8341&is=REG&Q=&O=productlist&sku=352326?/url? Audio-Technica Right Angle XLR-Female to 1/8 inch to plug into the mic input spot.

Am I correct with all this.

yeah, that or anything similar, I've seen converter plugs which have two XLR inputs so that you can plug in two mics, might want to put them through a mixer first though if you're doing that.

Careful with your mics though, for film shotgun mics are used, because generally you can't have the mic close enough to the action to get good sound with a normal mic.

i have a few condenser mics which are used for vocals so i am assuming that these could work nice. i would run this all through a mixer as well.
