Im saving up my money so i can buy an editing system. Im going to get an apple G5 with Final Cut Pro. so thats gonna coast alot. Im also looking for equipment for out put. Now the apple comes with DVD Burner so i can put my films on to dvd. But i also want to be able to transfer on to other types. What do i need? Where can i get them? and how much will this stuff coast? Anyone have any input?

Save yourself a lot of money and go for a used G4 setup.

From your post here it sounds like you don't need that kind of power and that cost.

I've edited features for DTV distribution on the first G4 iMac with great results and am currently using the latest iMac (20in. screen - 1.25GHz G4) with no trouble at all. I keep each feature on a different 120gb drive and still save a LOT of money over a G5.

Regarding transfering to video - I use my camera as a digital/analog bridge: Firewire to camera, RCA jacks to video recorder.
