hey whats up Danny here. I'm considering purchasing my first boom mic. i know already that this will cut out wind and improve audio quality, but i would like to know some details. i am not a whiz at the whole imput stuff, all i know is my camera has a mic output about the size of the plug my headphones go in. do i have to buy an adapter of some sort to plug it in? or does it recored seperatly? if so, what does it record too? this is the kit i am considering - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/551607-REG/Audio_Technica__AT_875_Shotgun_Microphone.html

You will need an adapter. They are cheap. I can't really tell you exactly which one you need though as I don't know if your mic is male or female and I'm not sure the exact name of the mic input on your camera. Still here is a list.

The boom itself won't cut out wind noise, it will improve sound by getting the mic closer to the source and aiming it (cam corders have very wide angle picking up everything).
If you're worried about wind noise you might want to buy a fuzzy wind sock. I think an ordinary sock might also work but I'm not sure.
