Anybody knows how to make fake blood? Some friend says he saw it on popular mechanics, a kindof formula, but doesnt remember.

Anybody does?

Clear corn syrup (Karo is one brand name)
Water
Red food color
Blue food color

Do several tests to find out the mixture you like best - it usually takes only a drop or two of blue per quart. I use black coffee rather than water to thin the syrup and make it more opaque.

Add a little photoflo (from Kodak) so it doesn't bead up as much. But not if you're using it in an actors mouth! Add a little liquid dish washing soap to make it stain less.

This might sound strange....my partner is a scientist in a pathology. She says that she can get real blood (from the pathology blood bank).
The blood they have is clean, so there is no risk of contamination.

Like many things on a movie set, the real thing isn't always the best.

Real blood, being organic, will decompose quickly and begin to smell. Corn syrup based "blood" will not. Being a fairly good director, I may be able to persuade people to do a lot of things "for the movie", but I doubt I could convince an actor to hold real blood in his mouth no matter how safe.

But hey, if you want to use the real blood your friend can get...

Corn syrup, is the best way to go, with red and a hint of blue food coloring
you can do so much with this
also my friend is a theater production dude and he says if you can put in a hint of baking soda (or flour) for some lumpy ness, this will give you a good thick gory effect
