hello there
my name is Jamie and im new here to the forum, ive been making films for a few years though i am no expert?:I?
i do have a question about blank guns though, im looking for blanks that are not a s loud as their real counterparts mostly due to the fact that i am shooting most of the scenes indoors and ear protection will be provided to the actors.
which kind of blank gun/ammunition would you guys suggest?
If you want to use real blank firing guns you should have an armourer on set who will be able to suggest the best kit for the job; blanks can still seriously injure people especially in an enclosed environment so if you can't afford an armourer you need to do guns with bb guns, sound effects and CG effects.

It depends on how you plan on filming it. If your using close ups of the gun and actually showing the gun go off then you would probably want blanks or a real looking cap gun. But if not then the ammo doesnt really matter because you should just add the sounds effects later.
when i say blank i mean the kind of blank guns that you can get online for 80$ to 100$ 22, 8mm, 9mmm ect
From a movie-making perspective, why do you need to actually fire the guns on location? A gun or blank gun is much quieter without ammo. Depending upon the angles and the type of gun its easy enough to fake.
Pulp fiction actually cut to red during each shot. Revolvers rotate the barrel the same if empty or loaded. Cuts to the target eliminate a lot of hassles as well.
If you need an automatic you have to buy a special one because the blanks have to have a big bang to force the bolt back and load the next round. Normal blank ammo will just jam the weapon after a shot. If normal blank ammo is not powerful enough than its unlikely you'll find weaker blank ammo that can satisfy.
