So I ran into a indy Film maker the other day at the video store(rented SNOW ANGELS), just my luck uh? so he was telling me how hes interested in producing some short scripts, of course be being the writer I am, said "hey i got some" so long story short, he gave me his number, and i plan to give him call in the next couple of days. So you can imagine how imtimidating this is? So leads to my question, I have a short thats not licensed...should I license it before I send it his way?
Its a 16 page script, if hes interested whats the money value?(even if he doesnt want to pay, but make it,thats cool).. Im clueless. I basically just dont want to be taken advantage of...so any advice on how I should approach this would be helpful. Hopefully you guys have been in this same sitation(big break right?), maybe share some stories? give me some guidance here

thanks

Since there is no market for short films there is no market for short
scripts. A $50 sale is better than giving it away for free, right?

But if you have a price range you think your script is worth then tell
him the top rate you want. You cannot be taken advantage of if you
say no to anything less than you feel it's worth. And you can't be
taken advantage of if you agree to less. And you can't be taken advantage
of it he offers no payment at all. As you say here, it's cool if he can't
pay for the script but produces it.

How many films has this producer made? Have you seen any of them?
