Hi

I was wondering if anyone had recommendations on what are considered to be the best film related MA courses in the UK. I have heard Westminster and Bournemouth are both meant to be good, but am clueless on what others are worth the time.

Thanks again!

I wouldn't do a MA in film at all. Do an MBA or something , which will prepare you for the business side and business in general. For structure, goto http://www.clickok.co.uk/index4.html and for a network of people goto http://www.shootingpeople.org

Screenplay Structure: http://www.clickok.co.uk/index4.html ; http://www.youtube.com/user/clickokDOTcoDOTuk
Screenplay Formatting: http://www.finaldraft.com/ ; http://www.plotbot.com/

I disagree. A good film school will create a complete, versatile filmmaker. You still must have talent, but assuming you do, it is significantly more efficient, thorough and complete to acquire the knowledge and skills needed for making films in a school than to scavenge for it on your own. Only if you cannot afford a good film school (or the time to attend one) should you consider learning on your own (by reading and doing). The only important point is finding a GOOD film school (rather than crappy one, which will take your money but not give much in return). As for the business aspect of it, I can't possibly imagine why would someone want to waste 2-4 years of one's life in a business school if they want to pursue career in film. That's like wanting to become a doctor and then, instead of a med school, pursuing a degree in English literature only because doctors must write a lot of reports.

Going for a film degree and (perhaps) taking a course or two in business would make significantly more sense.
