So, I'm trying to by a cheap camera to get more aquainted w/ film. I'm stuck b/t a Krasnogorsk-3 or a Bolex H-16. Does anybody have any suggestions? Or know of a camera that may be better? My budget is b/t $100 - $600.
I myself would be choosing the krasnagorsk, better track record by far, and one of the most commonly used 16mm out there. great device
Also, in case you haven't looked, there's a answer on film cameras in the Cinematography section of the FAQ.

I'm in the same position myself- I just read your message. I recently bought a Pathe Super 16mm (actually it is only 16mm and not super 16mm) for about 400 USD. It's OK, but the optics are disappointing. I should have got a Krasnagorsk for starters and you can pick them up for about 200 on eBay. You moght want to consider that for a learner I agree that film is really the best moving visual medium/ Good luck!
