So for quite some time i have wanted professional audio, and i finnally "have" it. i currently use a panasonic agdvc20p camera and i had been saving up a very long time and just bought an audio techinica AT8035 shotgun mic. i was aware the agdvc20 did not have an xlr imput, so after 2 weeks, i finnally have an XLR-3.5mm adapter (i bought the wrong one before :?). so, very exited, i plug everything in and.....nothing. no aduio at all. ive searched through every screen of the settings and can't find anything. this is very, very dissapoionting and i was hoping someone could help me. i dont want all my hard work to go to waste 😕

I don't know your camera but I know of two possible issues, just guessing of course

(1) You had to switch a dial on my camera to tell the camera to record the audio coming in from my XLR jacks rather than the built in audio. It did not default over. Your camera might have a similar deal either through software or a dial.

(2) Your mic can be powered by batteries or by the camara it is connected to (Phantom power). I suspect that your camera is incapable of providing that power (it doesn't have XLR inputs after all), or the adapter is interfering. Double-check to make sure you have batteries in your mic and that it is not switched to Phantom power.
