I'm sure you've heard this question a million and one times, but you gonna hear it again.
Is there a way to separate the voice and music? If so what program should I use? Then could you point me to the button to get me started?
Sorry to all you who are tired of this question. Though I didn't see it asked anywhere else on here.
Yeah this isn't really a common question. Mostly because... how are the voice together in the first place? Are you working off of a video that has already had the audio mixed down?
Yes. It's audio ripped from a video that was ripped from a dvd. Lord of the Rings. School project. Right now its an mp3 file.
OK, yes, there is a messy, unholy way to separate it that would sound bad if you were an experienced audio designer. So my recommendation is: Don't. What ever you need to do, work around it.
If you are looking for the music without audio buy the soundtrack. If you are looking for the audio without the music I don't have any suggestions. Maybe poking through the DVD using command lines and such you can discover the various files since on the DVD they are no doubt separate into different channels.

DaveD: Well....I shall avoid the unholy way of doing it so I wont enrage the audio experts (seeing as how I love them all). I'll try and work around it.
Unless...
rjschwarz: I will try your advice and poke around the DVD. This should be fun.
Question though. I know how to get into the DVD files, but I was wondering what command lines are.
Thank you both for your help. I'll let you know what works.
BTW, DaveD, just out of curiosity, whats the unholy way of separating them?
