Upon visiting my guidance counselor ?being in High School?, I was told to start making amateur films and posting them on YouTube to get some experience. Other than the problem of finding serious actors that follow direction and aren't belligerent, I need a good editing program for my comp. Plus, my camcorder broke recently ?dropped on the ground while filming a buddies skate line, then run over by my own board, flippin over. Too bad I didn't have a cam, it was probably hilarious?so I need a good, cheap camera. $100-200, something that ill fit my needs for now, and ny suggestions would be appreciated.
I know this site is filled with serious directors that proably don't have time to waste helping a greenhorn like me ??:p??, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

?If it matters, I plan to direct comedies, drama, and action movies. I already have several ideas, and two already-started screenplays?

Slim. If you take a look around these boards you'll see you're
wrong. The very reason for filmmaking.net to to help each
other out. The experienced help out the greenhorns, the
greenhorns help out - we are all here to offer advice based
on different levels of experience.

In the $100 - $200 range all cameras are the same. A Sony
is like a Sharp is like a Canon is like a Panasonic is like Samsung.
You can go to any Best Buy and pick up a camera in that
price range and you won?t be able to tell the difference.

But to expand the options (and up the price) check out these threads:

Thank you very much. I will look into a camera; all I ned for now is something that films things ?duh?. Plus, my Windows Movie Maker should be able to handle anything I do. I look forward to growing with this forum as a director and a person.

I was in the same situation as you were about year and half ago, when i begin to do what i love, since then ive gotten a camera. You say that windows movie maker will do what you want, but from my experience....i would invest in another editing program. I used windows when i first begin editing then upgraded to Magix Movie Edit Pro 11(not much of an upgrade)...and i so surprised out how much faster, quciker, easier, better, etc it was. There are plenty other programs that range from $20-60...my opinion, invest.
if you dont want to commit, try finding a trial on a program, and just find out for yourself
