hello everyone:

my name is Alex Haberle. i am a 17 year old high school student residing on Long Island in New York.

i have one completed screenplay, and plan on writing many more. one day i hope to write, direct, and produce a movie.

i generally write in the drama/film noir/indie genre. i write fiction based on realistic situations and people.

moves that have influenced me include Imaginary Heroes, Mysterious Skin, A Love Song For Bobby Long, The United States Of Leland, and Manic.

right now, i'm looking to meet and speak with other aspiring or successful filmmakers, writers, directors, etc, or really, anyone involved in the making of motion pictures. any advice, tips, stories, or interesting facts would be greatly appreciated. i can't wait to discuss film with you all and am looking forward to being a member of this board.

Well, it would appear you've come to the right place then boyo.
Start reading the history.
May I suggest "Zombie Movie Techniques" for an entertaining read.

Welcome to the board. Read many of the past posts and anything else you can get your hands on...books, magazine, interviews, etc. And then get a camera...can be any cheap video camera...and practice shooting. Most people don't spend enough time actually shooting. Practice shooting...spend at least 20-30 minutes every day shooting. On weekends find more time to shoot. It can simply be shooting your dog running around in the yard, but you learn how to frame, shoot and then edit your footage. Watch your favorite films and dissect them. Why did they shoot scenes the way they did...why did they light that scene that way? Start asking questions on this board once you get going.

I'll add my "Welcome to the boards!" and offer the same advice. There are a dozen threads here with advice, tips, stories and advice. I hope you read through them an add your input.
