Can you use any monitor on an apple computer or only apple monitors?

I would guess only on Apple Monitors but I don't really have any idea at all so my opinion is pretty pointless.

You can use any monitor with a Mac, however you probably get to buy an adaptor to go from your Mac's video output to the monitor's video input. Most likely your non-Mac monitor is a VGA connection, so you'll just get to determine what your Mac's output connection is.
